Libra Beauty: Rose & Hibiscus Toner
Astrological beauty has become a rather fun topic for me over the years. I’ve created many products that are based on the energy of a particular sign, planet, or transit, but have never really shared them with anyone. Last week, I made this moisturizing toner based on Libra energy and I loved it so much, I thought “why not share these recipes?”
Astro-herbalism and medical astrology have been around for ages but rarely do you hear about these subjects. I’ve been fortunate enough to study astro-herbalism and have found some excellent results. It may seem too woo-woo or far out there to consider your health and beauty issues are a result of stressful transits in our solar system. I was skeptical at first too, but the more I studied, the more I realized just how accurate astro-herbalism is. Your breakouts, body aches, bad hair days, and random colds could very well be the result of some transits that directly affect your cosmic DNA.
This is a vast subject, and certainly more than I think you want to read in a post about a toner. So more on this at another time. For now, I hope you’ll enjoy this toner based on the energy of Sun in Libra. It uses ingredients which correspond to Libra’s loving, soothing, and balancing energy. It is a toner, but is also a moisturizer thanks to liquid shea butter, making it most ideal for dry skin. Have oily skin? Simply omit the liquid shea. The result will be a balancing toner that will clear out excess oil.
1 teaspoon rose petals
1/2 teaspoon hibiscus petals
2-3 ounces distilled water
few drops liquid shea (find it here )
1/4 teaspoon vegetable glycerin (find it here )
peppermint essential oil
marjoram essential oil
small rose quartz (optional)
Bring the water to a light boil. Remove from heat, then pour over the rose petals and hibiscus. Allow the herbs to steep until the water has completely cooled. Strain the flower mixture into a small bowl. Add the liquid shea (leave out for oily skin) and vegetable glycerin. Mix well until combined. Now add 20 drops rose absolute, 2 drops marjoram oil, 1 drop peppermint oil. Slip your rose quartz inside a 2 ounce spray bottle then pour mixture using a funnel. This mixture will keep for up to five days in the refrigerator.
Shake well before each use. The mixture will be cold which I find ideal in the morning for an extra bit of “wake me up.” You can sit the bottle for a few minutes if you do no enjoy a cold mist. Wash your face and allow to dry. Spritz the mixture over your face and neck then follow with moisturizer of your choice. I like almond and rose hip oils most, especially for libra energy.
